Neil Young has released a brand new studio recording titled, "Who's Gonna Stand Up?," via NeilYoung.com. According to his website, "The new song is featured on Young's upcoming album, Storeystone, which will be released this November. The song was originally performed at a Crazy Horse shows U.K. this summer and more recently part of Young's solo acoustic set at Farm Aid this past Sept 13th, at Walnut Creek Amphitheater in Raleigh North Carolina. The audience did indeed stand up and sing along in unison in support of the song's plea to end our dependence of fossil fuels and realize our responsibility to protect our earth's fragile ecosystems to ensure the quality of life for future generations." Young also recorded the track backed by a 92-piece symphony and choir. Live, orchestral and solo acoustic versions of "Who's Gonna Stand Up?" Live version with Crazy Horse: Orchestral version: Solo Acoustic version: Pink Floyd's new album, The Endless River, will be released on November 10, the band has announced. According to Pink Floyd's website: The Endless River has as its starting point the music that came from the 1993 Division Bell sessions, when David Gilmour, Rick Wright and Nick Mason played freely together at Britannia Row and Astoria studios. This was the first time they had done so since the Wish You Were Here sessions in the seventies. Those sessions resulted in The Division Bell, the band’s last studio album. In 2013 David Gilmour and Nick Mason revisited the music from those sessions and decided that the tracks should be made available as part of the Pink Floyd repertoire. It would be the last time the three of them would be heard together. The band have spent the last year recording and upgrading the music, using the advantages of modern studio technology to create The Endless River. The new album is a tribute to the late Rick Wright, whose keyboards are at the heart of the Pink Floyd sound. It is a mainly instrumental album with one song, "Louder Than Words", (with new lyrics by novelist Polly Samson), arranged across four sides and produced by David Gilmour, Phil Manzanera, Youth and Andy Jackson. He has evolved from a blues prodigy to an established blues-rock maestro over the last decade and a half. Shepherd can bend, slam, strum, hammer and pull the guitar strings into varied shades with the blues as the foundation. His fluid riffs, ranging from sinewy to hard rocking, are scattered over rock, R&B and the musical traditions of his Louisiana heritage. He is currently touring in support of his latest recording, Goin’ Home, a thoughtful collection of select covers. Shepherd will perform at the Fillmore in Charlotte on September 12.
